From 1963 to 2006, information from radar warning systems was fed into operator consoles at the Canadian Forces Base North Bay Underground Complex. The information was used to monitor Canadian airspace for hostile or unidentified aircraft.

The operations room was nicknamed the “Blue Room” because of the blue light used to soothe personnel, who spent long hours watching their monitors.
