In 1940, Captain Joseph Samuel Corbett fashioned this toy Spitfire fighter plane from the wreckage of a German Dornier bomber that was shot down near his camp in the United Kingdom. A friend brought this keepsake home to Corbett’s wife, Clarice, and his two-year-old son, Hugh, in Toronto.
