The Kolak-Lončarević family presented this torch, used in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, to Canadian Major John Russell to thank him for evacuating their daughter Ivanka from the besieged city in 1993.

Russell smuggled 298 people out of Sarajevo during his posting as military assistant to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General.
