According to Bert Kahrel’s Dutch identification papers, he was born in 1929, making him 15 years old when the papers were issued. He was actually born in 1928. This doctored ID pass made Bert too young to be conscripted by the Germans into military service or as slave labour. After the war, Bert moved to Canada.
